Just An FYI On Logan Morrison

UNIVERSAL BASEBALL ASSOCIATION (NL) - Player News

Despite the zero HRs, Florida Marlins 1B-turned-LF Logan Morrison has demonstrated his incredible eye in the major leagues. With 13:15 BB:K, Morrison would be considered a lock for sleeper status next year.

However, I want to point out that he struggled in his first couple weeks in the majors with a 2:11 BB:K. In his last ten games, the rookie has walked eleven times and struck out just four times.

All while learning a new position - in the major leagues!

Don't Waste Time On Handcuffs

No, this isn't advice to the local Police Department in a town full of Tim Tebows. It applies to wasting a bench spot for the back-up RB to an elite RB. If Maurice Jones-Drew goes down, his back-up isn't good enough.

Fantasy Football Index: "So projected third-down backs like Westbrook, Darren Sproles, Brandon Jackson and even aged Kevin Faulk could turn out to be 7- to 8-point per week guys, at a minimum, even if they never start a game. And that makes them usable players. Weeks they catch 5 passes for 50 yards and rush for 20-30 yards....well, I think Westbrook might have a few of those, too."

2011 1st Round Outfielder

In the fantasy baseball podcast world, the question being asked is whether Colorado Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez is a 1st round draft pick in 2011. My immediate answer is a question.

Weren't Matt Kemp and Justin Upton 1st round picks in 2010? How has that panned out?

Personally, I'm passing on CarGo and taking Kemp or Upton a round later. My 1st round pick is going to be one of the top 1B or an elite middle infielder.

AL SS Depth in 2011

Has anyone else noticed how weak the American league SS pool is? Proof? Yuni Betancourt's 9 HR and 48 RBI ranks amongst the top 5 in each category.

Expanding the SS poll to include NL SSs keeps Betancourt in the Top 5 still, at least by unique totals i.e. two SSs tied with 15 HR count as one place.

Don't believe me, here is the link to ESPN Stats by SS.

For fantasy leagues, I would either grab Hanley Ramirez earlier than expected or punt SS until the end - ASSUMING 2010 IS A FAIR REPRESENTATION OF 2011 SS PRODUCTION!
