The Twins acquired OF Craig Monroe from the Cubs for a PTBNL. That PTBNL is dependent on the Twins signing Monroe for less than he made last season ($4.8MM). In addtion, it must be done prior to December 1st because Monroe is arbitration eligible and the Twins won't offer him the opportunity to increase his 2007 salary.
The Yankees made a final 3Yr/$45MM offer to closer Mariano Rivera - and he did not immediately accept. I don't see any other team matching the money and years, but I will not say it is inconceivable.
