Notes from yesterday's games:
Twins starting pitcher Ramon Ortiz pitched a gem. His next start is slated to be against the Yankees. While just a start, it should help determine if this is the new Ramon Ortiz or the one who pitched in Washington last season.

Bobby Crosby went 2-2 with a SB. Any chance he joins Felix Hernandez as super-hyped 2006 players who fulfill that hype in 2007?
*
Jose Reyes homered yesterday in the Mets final game of a three-game sweep of the Cardinals. I have visions of Eric Davis fantasy stats circa 1986 - 27 HRs and 80 SB. Keep in mind Davis did that in less than 500 ABs.

Johnny Damon's calf injury looks like it will force the Yankees to play without a back-up outfielder. Only Miguel Cairo, Josh Phelps and Wil Nieves remain on the bench, assuming Doug Mientkiewicz is starting at 1B. Do not be surprised to see one of them get OF-eligibility if Damon can't play by the weekend.
