Fantasy Baseball 2010: Now Or Later

Do you over emphasise future production over current production in keeper leagues? Most serious players in that format do.

The alpha opportunity is to deal future value for current production A real life example from one of my leagues. A $23 Andre Ethier was dealt for three highly regarded prospects, none of which will out produce Ethier in 2010.

Ray here-should I change my team name to the Marlins? Finishing in the top 3 was nice, but I gave up alot to go for first place and didn't. I looked at Rob's team and he can 3-peat, possibly. I wouldn't get that much for Ethier at the trade deadline, so I decided to deal him.

Ethier is more likely to be part of a winning fantasy team than any prospect regardless of who they are in any format. However, we know the lure of future stars at cheap salaries is too hard to resist.

Ray here-agreed, but I may not be playing for 2010. Then again, I've said that before.
