Melky Cabrera

With the news that Gary Sheffield will undergo surgery on his injured risk, Melky Cabrera becomes a lock to remain a Yankees starting outfielder for the remainder of 2006.

With a platoon of Bernie Williams and Bubba Crosby in rightfield, the Yankees are a lock to explore the trade market for an outfielder, and, with that acquistion, Cabrera will remain a starter.

Look at his walks and strikeouts if you have any doubt about Melky's ability to remain a major leaguer - 14 walks and seven strikeouts in 94 ABs.

For simplicity, multiply those figures by six for a full seasons' worth of ABs - 84 walks and 42 strikeouts.

There is just no way that type of plate discipline does not result in an All-Star.

hahahaha, blindly multiplying his numbers by 6 = an all star that is fabulous.
or maybe since he is 5 for his last 28 in the last 7 games w/ 0 HR and 2 rbis we should times that by 23 and we'd have a corner OFer batting .179 0 46 0

Not a Yankees fan, I presume?

Melky is for real, sample size violations aside.

not a yankee fan, i guess there are only two types of fans Yankee fan or not?
Last yr he was abust in 90 ABs and now he is a certain All Star??
I just think the truth lies somewhere in beteween but still don't think he's ready for the show, despite his BB/K rate, I would not be surprised to see him batting .240 in another week w/ 0 HR
