A day after the Dodgers announce Joel Guzman is the newest LF in the organization, here are some of the comments in the local dailies.
From the LA Times:
Guzman began his crash course in outfield play from bench coach Dave Jauss, who believes his pupil could become capable enough to start opening day at Dodger Stadium
The best bit of info:
Jose Cruz was unaware Guzman had become a left fielder. At first he wasn't sure who Guzman was
From the LA Daily News:
Manager Grady Little said Guzman could see Grapefruit League action in left within a week, but that the determining factor for whether Guzman makes the club will be his bat - even if he hasn't gotten comfortable at his new position
From the Orange County Register:
Guzman will get a chance to hit his way into the big leagues at a position where the Dodgers can most easily accommodate him.
Whether is is a good idea or not, Guzman is the LF of the very near future. Drop all LA OFs in value as the ABs will be limited to CF and RF (when Drew isn't hurt.)
